May I send gifts to my child?

Yes, The Lily Foundation encourages sponsors to give additional monetary gifts to their sponsored children for special occasions, or simply as an act of love. Gifts are another effective way for you to reinforce your care and commitment to your child.

Due to high customs duties and the possibility that a package could be lost or stolen, we ask that packages not be sent. Anything flat that fits into a correspondence envelope can be enclosed in letters and make wonderful gifts. You may want to send snapshots, balloons, paper dolls, handkerchiefs, a flat chain and pendant or picture postcards, for example.

Local workers in D.R. Congo will purchase the gift on your behalf, according to your instructions and therefore make certain that the gift is appropriate to the African culture. As a guideline we ask that sponsors keep these contributions between £5.00 and £10.00 for each child and limit their gift giving to no more than three a year.

Unfortunately, we may not know the exact birthdate of your sponsored child, so you can use your imagination if you want to give a birthday present. Some sponsors in this situation choose their own birthday as their sponsored childs and therefore celebrate together.
